The veto was Bush’s second on the stem-cell issue and only the third of his presidency…

Which really shows you where his priorities are, doesn’t it? Look, I’m down with a veto on any form of federal spending – as long as it’s a veto on federal spending, and not a thinly veiled attempt to legislate morality.

“The legislation would have eased limits on federally funded human stem-cell research by allowing spending on studies using embryos that were created for fertility treatments and would otherwise be discarded.”

In the right sidebar of the article, there is a picture of George – embracing a girl born with spina bifida, and it looks like he’s benevolently kissing her forehead. I wonder what he was whispering to her?

The fact the President has gone nearly two full terms and has clocked in at only three vetoes is one of the most damnable statistics attributable to him.

What I’d like to see in 2008 – other than a gridlocked Congress and White House – is a President with the testicular fortitude to actually refuse to sign a majority of bills.

I mean, I’d like a President who has callouses from using his trusty veto pen so often the ink gets hot from the friction. I’d like to see him carry it in a custom-made holster – ever at the ready…. am I asking too much?
