The veto was Bush’s second on the stem-cell issue and only the third of his presidency…

Which really shows you where his priorities are, doesn’t it? Look, I’m down with a veto on any form of federal spending – as long as it’s a veto on federal spending, and not a thinly veiled attempt to legislate morality.

“The legislation would have eased limits on federally funded human stem-cell research by allowing spending on studies using embryos that were created for fertility treatments and would otherwise be discarded.”

In the right sidebar of the article, there is a picture of George – embracing a girl born with spina bifida, and it looks like he’s benevolently kissing her forehead. I wonder what he was whispering to her?
