Thug Mayor

As I’ve previously inquired about Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick
A different set of rules, that’s how Kwame was playing when he got busted for visiting Windsor (a foreign country, I might add) in violation of court order. He got to spend a night in the clink.
When he was processed at the jail, the mayor was wearing a shiny gray suit with matching vest and a French-cuffed shirt with “Mayor” embroidered on the sleeves.
Some people thought the judge was being too hard on Kwame, after all, it was official business. Kind of. I hear there was some hullabaloo about whether the city would build another bridge to Windsor. From all accounts I’ve read, or heard, the matter is effectively settled by Council, and it is not within the Mayor’s powers to change the situation.
If anyone else had left the country (or the state) in violation of court’s orders, they’d likely be behind bars awaiting a trial. Kilpatrick should not receive preferential treatment on account of his political clout.
He’s also, as the headlines indicate, being charged with some new felonies!
The new charge stems from a July 24 altercation with Wayne County Sheriff’s Detective Brian White, who testified that Kilpatrick shoved him into his partner at the mayor’s sister’s house in Detroit. Kilpatrick’s lawyers said the mayor gently escorted White away from the house.
Why these are coming to pass now, is another question. Because just as you or I would be in jail for leaving the country without permission, we’d probably be drinking our dinners through a straw, courtesy of a police officer’s baton, had one of us “normals” decided to assault a deputy. (Sometimes, you don’t even need to assault them; in some jurisdictions, just being quadriplegic is a crime worthy of getting tossed from your wheelchair, in other jurisdictions, officers might threaten to kill you, just for skateboarding!)
I just like it when dirtbag politicians get some comeuppance, a fine way to start the weekend.

Lets be honest if a normal joe six pack were to try and assault an officer serving a warrant wed probably be cut down in a hail of gunfire before we finished, forget the baton.
