Dog Blogging: Houdini Edition

December 26th, 2008

Couldn’t figure out how Rumor was escaping from her crate – I’d put her away in the AM, come home at lunch to let her out, and she’d be waiting for me on the couch, or in the back hall, whatever. One Saturday, we crated her, set up the video camera, and went to lunch.

When we came back, she greeted us at the door! BUT HOW?

This is what we saw:

You can’t tell from the video since there’s no timestamp, but she managed to do this within 5 minutes of us walking out the front door, I think the actual time on tape was about 4 minutes 30 seconds.

Needless to say, we no longer crate her, we just tolerate the fact that she likes to eat Christmas ornaments on occasion.

First Snowboarding Video for 2008-2009

December 25th, 2008

Here’s the first draft of the first set of video clips I got so far this snowboarding season. Unfortunately, I taped over about half the footage I had with holiday stuff. Didn’t mean to do that, so all the evidence I have of Coast actually landing some railslides has been inadvertently purged. Oh well, plenty of season left to get more film.

Headed up with some friends & wives to Otsego after X-mas, hope to have more footage next week.

FYI: This footage hasn’t been edited, no transitions, no soundtrack, no subtitles or whatever. I’ve already noticed a few skips that I missed on the first pass through the editor. It’s just splices of the few seconds of film I got so far that I didn’t erase. I’ll revise & repost over the weekend.

Where is Santa?

December 24th, 2008

We got hammered with snow over the weekend, I couldn’t enjoy it on the slopes because it was zero degrees. Last night would’ve been perfect, about 30 and snowing, except I had to finish Christmas shopping. This weekend it’s supposed to be 50 effing degrees with Thunderstorms. Santa, apparently, is not coming to my house.

If you’re wondering where he is going, and when he’s going there, you can always check out the Santa Tracker, via NORAD. Seriously. Apparently, it’s an appropriate use of taxpayer funds to provide a fake Santa Tracker. And it’s an even better use of taxpayer funds to provide a fake 1-800 number to get updates on Santa’s whereabouts.

I feel safer, already.
