It’s come to my attention that I’ve recently (yesterday) been added to Kip, Esquire’s Elite Eleven. A few things here: I’ve been reading KipEsq for several months now, and I’m still not quite sure what he actually does (other than blog)- read his profile, and I’m sure you’ll be similarly perplexed. Regardless, he offers some great insight, and draws from a varied knowledge base to examine issues from several points of view (Legal, Economic, Political, etc…) It’s one of the better blogs that I read, and probably the best that’s written by one person and not a group of people. If I had some sort of status indicator on my blogroll, Kip would probably be near the top.

In fact, I’ll go in there and move him right on up.

What is the Elite Eleven?

The long and the short of it is, the Elite Eleven is comprised of what Kip believes to be some of the better Libertarian blogs out there that you probably haven’t heard of. Now, I’m sure that you haven’t heard of this one, but it’s an honor that there are people out there who think I’m worth of this praise, and I am very grateful. Now I’ll just have to balance myself and keep current with my editorials, rants, and opinions. I like the rants the best, I think.

For those of you who come here via Kip, allow me to introduce myself:

I’m 25, I live in a detroit suburb with a few friends from college, one of whom is a teacher, and one of whom is a 1L at Detroit Mercy. Detroit is decidedly Left of center, but I was introduced years ago to the libertarian philosophy by my father (who was probably influenced by his brother), and subsequent readings of Rand, Mises, Bastiat, Mill, and other boring literary types. I am working on my MA in Economics, at Walsh College in Troy, MI, by which I mean, I start my classes next week. I plan on writing a thesis next summer, before finally entering the rank & file of corporate “your life is indenture” america, in some aspect or another. Or, if the job hunt is anything like it was after I finished by Bachelor’s, I am going to quit all my worldly posessions except my snowboard and my bank account, and become a snowboarding nomad in the mountains of the American Rockies. I do drink heavily, and some would say “too much,” but I would respond that I’ve had years of formal training, and at 25, I am 220 pounds of pure athleticism, my body is a finely tuned machineand I’m capable of instantly recycling alcohol into pure energy and shenanigans.

Anyways, if you can’t tell, my two real passions are snowboarding and freedom. I’ll try to keep up the good work.
