The ironic quote of the day comes from a group of Unions, currently negotiating with Novi, MI based Tower Automotive. Tower’s case is not dissimilar to the plight of other major automotive suppliers. Read the article in the Detroit Free Press, if you care.

“Tower’s management presently does not appear to be interested in working with its unions,” the three unions said Wednesday. “We call upon Tower to step away from its path towards certain self-destruction.”

I suppose that depends on what side of the fence you’re sitting, eh? It’s the Unions’ ham-fisted bargaining that has put the auto industry in such dire straits to begin with. The “path towards certain self-destruction” is certainly the one along which Tower continues to pay people $13-15/hour when there are others, unemployed, who would be willing to work for less.
