Hot, Hot, Hot.

Memorial Day weekend was a good time in/around Phoenix. I got some much needed sun, had a few days off work, drank too many Coronas and $11 margaritas at the Westin-Kierland resort. Saw a nice wedding that unfortunately culminated in a reception without an open bar - which, had it not been a “destination wedding” where most of the guests had spent a pretty penny just to be there, I wouldn’t take exception to. But I had spent a lot of money just to be there, and even more to stay at the resort - I don’t mean to sound like an ingrate, but come on…

Landed last night back in Detroit, just in time to witness the Pistons crumble again before the Miami Heat. It might’ve been hot in AZ, like, 101 degrees hot, but it was insufferable in Detroit. The humidity, as usual, is the problem. 80 degrees is often unbearable as we approach 80 or 90% humidity with regularity. I opened the door to my house only to find that it was actually warmer inside than out.

Smashing.

My roommate informed me that the “AC is broken, and the repair man might not make it out until Wednesday.” My guess is that it probably has something to do with a recent kitchen remodel and tampering with the wiring. It was the most uncomfortable night’s sleep I’ve had since I spent a summer abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, where most homes are not air-conditioned, and during which 7 weeks it rained 3 times and temps were frequently 95+.

By the end of the week though, it should be back in the 70s. Until then, it’s 90, with 70% humidity.
