I received this message from my brother a few minutes ago:
“Early Wednesday, Israeli gunboats shelled a Palestinian refugee camp in south Lebanon, killing at least one person and wounding three others, Lebanese and Palestinian officials said”
It’s being reported elsewhere, but not widespread, and it probably won’t be. Fifty-thousand Palestinians live in abject poverty, fenced in like dogs at a junkyard, in that
internement “refugee” camp, the largest in Lebanon.
It’s getting harder & harder for me to stomach – the situation over there. I don’t want to read about it. I don’t want voicemails about it. I’m tired of trying to pick sides, or weigh the relative morality and righteousness of two groups murderous thugs. As much as I hate the Zionist cause, I hate the repeated shellings of Israeli cities. Vin Suprynowicz wrote a column on Sunday, in which he argues that the world ought to just sit back and let them fight until somebody wins. Just get it over with; winner takes all.
As much as I hate the idea, and want to beleive that some sort of agreement can be worked out, Vin’s suggestion is becoming more and more palatable.
