Condi & Consequences

August 12th, 2006

Do you think Condoleeza Rice has been doing a good job? According to a USA Today poll, 63% of Americans have a favorable opinion of how she’s been handling her duties. Setting aside the obvious question – by what measures is the average citizen able to understand, weigh and assay the merits of her performance as related to her duties – I’d tend to think she’s pretty much a figurehead, and doesn’t do a whole lot of anything, anyways, except waste resources that might better be spent in some private manner.

But someone else is fuming mad, and I think, spot-on:

What I want to know is what are you doing about the use of bombs the US sold that are being used to kill the relatives of US tax payers? What, as our employee, are you doing?

…Nothing you have done up to now has saved anyone.

Now our taxes pay to close the road in and out of South Lebanon. Our taxes pay to prevent humanitarian aid from getting through. Our taxes pay for civilians fleeing for their lives to get straffed. Our taxes pay for people to be entombed in their own houses.

Certainly, I could not have said that better myself.
