This report, that the employees at two Ann Arbor, MI auto-dealterships have decided to join the UAW, is absolutely mindboggling:
“In an Aug. 16 election, workers at BMW of Ann Arbor and Mercedes of Ann Arbor voted 16 to 10 to become part of the United Auto Workers. The new 28-person bargaining unit includes mechanics, service writers, parts workers and detailers at both dealerships.”
Aside from the moral injustice and institutionalized theft perpetrated by a relatively narrow margin (this was a 60/40 vote), which requires that a fairly large minority join the UAW — are they oblivious to the obvious? For christ’s sake, look around! The unions have failed miserably in their attempts to secure jobs, benefits, wages, etc. The unions are chiefly responsible for the decline of the Big Three, and accordingly, the greater portion of the Michigan economy.
Why anyone would want to hop on that sinking ship is beyond me.
