I’d be happy to read this at The Onion. Unfortunately it appeared in today’s Washington Post.

The State of California is filing suit against the six largest automakers in the country. The immediate question is “Why only the six largest?” Why not file suit against every automaker that sells vehicles within the People’s Republic of California?

And what necessarily follows is why California is filing suit (for unspecified damages) based on a highly controversial claim? The responsibility in this suit lies with California: to prove irrefutably that:

1. “global warming” exists

2. California suffers positive harm as a result of global warming

3. Automakers are the (or at least a) proximate cause thereof
