No One Can Defeat the Quad Laser

January 31, 2007

Perhaps nobody can defeat Ignignoc and Err’s quad laser. According to the Boston Herald:

[Boston] City Councilor Michael Flaherty was fuming and demanded that Turner Broadcasting “reimburse the city of Boston for every dime spent today on this serious public safety threat. It’s outragoues (sic), reckless and totally irresponsible. What a waste of resources.”

The outrageous, reckless, and totally irresponsible waste of resources was a marketing gimmick gone awry for Turner Network’s “Adult Swim.” So what does Flaherty want - a refund?
Ignignoc

Nobody gets a refund when the State screws up. You don’t get a refund when border patrol tears apart your car. You don’t get a refund if you’re wrongly convited and require a defense attorney. And you don’t get refunded if you’re convicted and later exonerated. And every time the State overreacts, private citizens shouldn’t be asked to “refund” the mistake. The only reason the State has the financial wherewithal to commit such blunders is because they’ve taken your money in the first place. To ask for more money, because they’ve mishandled the initial sum, is absurd.

This isn’t synonymous with charging people for excessive rescue and salvage costs when their snowmobiles crash through Houghton Lake. No, this is the natural reaction of an overly paranoid, sissified populace, on edge because they’re engaged in a never-ending war with a nameless, faceless enemy - clamoring to Papa Government for protection.

I don’t want to sound the alarm, but dude, the terrorists are winning.
